About the Department
inception of the institution. Our teaching mission includes instruction in biochemistry for
undergraduate and Post graduate students; and enable them to understand the processes of life at the biochemical, genetic and cellular level. We provide knowledge regarding the mechanisms that drive cellular systems. The highlights of the department are creating the research environments to students and faculty members along with our teaching practice propelling the students to get placed in national and international academic centers, research labs and diagnostic labs.
About the Department
The department of Biochemistry was established in the year 1997 and since then it has offered B.Sc Biochemistry. From 2021-2022, the department is offering M.Sc Biochemistry to impart extensive proficiency in Biochemistry to the student community. The Department offers an affable environment for knowledge improvement, scientific research training and for individual development.
Departmental highlights
- The department has an outstanding complement of teaching by the faculty who are involved in basic and applied research in different areas of Biochemistry and Environmental Microbiology.
- Faculty members from the department have good number of research publications in SCI indexed and Scopus indexed international journals.
- The department of Biochemistry has a practice of conducting annual programs on various scientific forums for the past 23 years includes international conferences, national conferences, state level seminars, regional seminars, workshops, intercollegiate meets and guest lectures.
- The department also assisting and guiding students to get placements in reputed pharmaceutical giants like Global Calcium India Pvt. Ltd, Micro labs etc.
Add on course in “Medical Lab Technology” (MLT) and “Mushroom Cultivation” offered by the department to equip the students to get placed in diagnostic labs and to make them as entrepreneurs.
As a credible record our department alumni have been placed in reputed laboratories, industries and esteemed universities.
- It has produced 4 University ranks so far, which includes University first rank.
Departmental objectives
The department aims to provide an advanced understanding of the core principles and topics of Biochemistry and their experimental basis, and to enable students to acquire a specialized knowledge and understandings our graduates will have the skills to examine and describe living systems in terms of the molecules within.

Department of biochemistry is active in research activities. The students of II – M.Sc Biochemistry (2021 – 2023) have done experimental research in phytochemicals inflammation, memory and cognition, Nano particles and enzyme inhibitory studies.
